Level two has finally reached a quality where I’m pretty much done with it, so hurray! I spent the week refining cinematics, tweaking enemy placement, difficulty balancing everything, and putting the finishing touches on all the bosses. I’m feeling accomplished, and am hoping the next couple levels don’t take quite as long, since I had to re-do so much of this one. I guess we’ll see.
I also made some other miscellaneous changes to help make the game more fun to play. You might remember how I separated the pistols’ hitboxes so they needed to be really precise to collide with tiles, and really generous for enemies? Well, I did the same thing with reflected enemy bullets, so now those are more fun and easy to use too.
I also tooled around a little with co-op. Player two was accidentally immune to enemy laser attacks (which is now fixed) and the two players now influence eachother’s position a bit (but only a bit, and they ignore each other if either of them is air-dashing.)
Finally, if there’s anything you’d like me to blog about, feel free to drop me a line. I’ll continue to do these weekly updates, but once I get to the last few levels the less I’ll want to show and I’ll need something to talk about, so ideas are welcome!
